While a martial arts background can provide a strong foundation for studying this art, it is not a prerequisite. You don’t need to be an athlete to begin your journey in swordsmanship, but a high degree of focus and attention is essential. We expect all students to demonstrate maturity, control, and unwavering focus as they engage in this disciplined practice. 

As with most activities, there is an initial expense associated with purchasing the required uniform, which includes a Keikogi (shirt), Hakama (pants), and Obi (belt). Our art does not adhere to specific colors or patterns, allowing you the freedom to choose what you prefer. However, we highly recommend consulting with an instructor before placing your order. We are more than happy to guide you through the sizing and purchasing process. 

While the tools used in class are limited, Bokken (wooden sword) and Iaito (unsharpened katana) are available to borrow from the school. However, you will eventually be encouraged to acquire your own equipment. As always, we are more than happy to assist you in making these purchases.
