In recognition of his commitment and dedication to the art and upon the passing of Clayton McCombs Sensei in 2021, Santō Ichi-ryū © LLC was passed onto Eric Zimmerman as Principal Instructor.
Zimmerman sensei is extremely thankful to the McCombs family, the Cheng family from Cheng’s Martial Arts School, and the Universal System of Martial Arts for this honor and recognition. Eric's enthusiasm coupled with his deep understanding serves the art well and is supported by his unique approach to engage practitioners from various backgrounds. He will ensure the art's integrity remains intact for generations to come.
Eric's martial art journey began at the age of nine. Since that time he has studied various martial arts including western boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Hap-Ki Do, Kenpo, Kenjutsu, Northern Seven Star Style Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Chang Moo Kwan, Tuite and fourteenth to sixteenth century European longsword. He currently holds Shodan in Kenpo under Grand Master Shen (Alan) Cheung and Yondan in Santō Ichi-ryū © LLC.
Eric has taught at various locations including a local university, martial art schools, fencing organizations, provides seminars and also offers small group or private lessons.
In recognition of his efforts towards student development, Eric was honored to have been rewarded “Instructor of the Year” by both the ‘United Fellowship of Martial Artists’ and by the ‘World Karate Hall of Fame’.
In addition to his passion in the arts, he also enjoys all forms of exercise and has set an American Powerlifting Record within the World Natural Powerlifting Federation.
